Not feeling comfortable at her young age to discuss her weight with ANYONE, she just experimented and experimented. It wasn’t easy, in her well-fed Italian family, to only eat when she was hungry, to eat smaller portions or even to pass on extra desserts. And she finally just accepted the fact that her relatives would have opinions about her new healthy eating habits and that they would express those opinions to her, whether she wanted to listen or not.
That was 28 years ago. Today… the relatives still talk and Lisa still has the same healthy eating habits. She found her way out of her extra weight in spite of all her beliefs about food, exercise, family, and most importantly her very limiting beliefs about herself. It would make sense, then, that while reading If I Am So Smart, Why Can’t I Lose Weight? Lisa resonated with so much of its content that she decided to utilize this program as the basis of her work.
From Lisa’s viewpoint, the only way to achieve lasting results in weight loss is to focus on the body’s needs – both physically and emotionally. She believes that the only way to permanent weight loss is through permanent change. Because it works for her, Lisa teaches clients how to establish new and healthier habits that will become a way of life. She coaches her clients to connect with and listen to their bodies’ needs.
Lisa has a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and has worked with hundreds of people interested in creating change in their lives. For Lisa, helping people reach their goals is one of the most rewarding careers she can imagine. Specifically, being a Weight Loss Coach gives Lisa the opportunity to work with people in an area she has personal experience with and also feels passionately about. In addition to her Masters degree in MFT from Syracuse University, Lisa also has a Bachelors degree in Accounting from LeMoyne College and has been personally certified as a Life Coach by Dr. Martha Beck. Together with her husband, Lisa built and sold a very successful distribution business over the course of 18 years. She is married with three children, ages 19, 16, and 10 and can be found at least 5 mornings each week in her basement… giving her body the gift of exercise.
